Really interesting stuff. We are using Ning more and more with our clients as it is a really nice example of a simple idea that can be quickly executed for a low budget. We now need to look into what can be done with this. Does anyone know if you can remove the ads (a paid for version with no ads or something like that)? Any examples?

I found the answer (a bit of google search): there is a simple business model where you can remove the ads, promotional links, and use your own domain. Costs range between 25-50 USD.
